They will not go to Germany
Eight foreign nationals who intended to travel from Latvia to Germany were detained by Border Guard officers in Kalisz after receiving information from the Wielkopolska Customs and Tax Office. The person organizing this illegal activity, a Romanian national, was detained along with them.
On September 3rd, Border Guard officers from Kalisz, acting on information from the Wielkopolska Customs and Tax Office, stopped a Volkswagen passenger car on the A2 highway in the Kolski district, heading toward Germany. The vehicle was driven by a 62-year-old Romanian citizen who was organizing the illegal crossing of the Polish-German border for eight foreign nationals (five Iraqis, two Indians, and a Bangladeshi citizen).
It turned out that the foreigners did not have documents confirming their legal stay in Poland, although they possessed residency permits for Latvia (Latvian asylum documents). According to their statements, they had entered Poland illegally from Latvia via Lithuania with the intention of reaching Germany. The foreigners were detained for illegally crossing the border from Lithuania to Poland. They were charged, and all admitted to the offenses. Additionally, the foreigners were fined a total of 3,300 PLN. Consequently, the foreigners were handed over to Lithuanian authorities under the readmission procedure.
The Romanian citizen was detained for organizing illegal border crossings. He was charged, admitted to the offenses, and provided extensive explanations. Furthermore, an administrative procedure was initiated to deport him from Poland. Until the decision ordering his deportation is issued, he has been placed in a guarded center for foreigners by court order.
