New Data on Foreign Workers in Poland: March 2024
The article shares the latest information about how many foreigners are working in Poland and key trends in the job market as of March 2024.
In March 2024, over 1 million foreigners were working in Poland, an increase of 7,000 compared to the previous month. However, the yearly growth rate dropped to -0.7%, the first decline since January 2023. This drop is mostly due to 30,000 fewer Ukrainian workers, although the number of workers from other countries increased by 22,600.
At the same time, Poland had 110,800 job vacancies, which is 2.1% lower than the year before. The overall job vacancy rate remained steady at 0.86%.
Foreign workers are mostly found in a few key sectors. In 2023, the largest number of them worked in administration and support services (217,700 people, making up 25% of the workforce in that sector). Many foreigners also worked in food services (15.4%) and transportation (14.3%).
The report also shows that foreign workers tend to be younger than Polish workers. The average age of foreigners in Poland was 37.8 years, while Polish workers were 42.8 years old on average.
The data was collected using new methods to better track the number of foreigners working in Poland, taking into account factors like age, gender, nationality, and job sector.
